This summer, take a break and join Ada, Anthony, and PLIX Intern Vivian online for a weekly PLIX Play Cafe! We’re celebrating the joy of snail mail with micro PLIX activities in this hybrid pen pal format.

Drop in on Wednesdays between 3:30–4:30pm ET (UTC−04:00) from June 21st to the end of August. Come play together with us!

We welcome participation from PLIX community members, library professionals, and friends of PLIX who are excited about creative STEAM education in public libraries. For our overseas friends, be sure to sign up early so the kit arrives on time.

You’ll receive snail mail, a physical “letter” from us, that has as much fun as we can fit in a one-ounce envelope. We’ll also send you emails to slowly unveil the mystery of the contents, and prepare you for the fun.

Over the course of the summer, we’ll be playing with 4 of our PLIX activities together. But it’s not just fun and games! It’s also designed so that you can take a break and have fun with us. We’ll be sharing with you some open-ended creative activities that we’ve been playing with at home. In our own small way, we aim to inspire you and support your mental, physical, and social well-being, just as you continue to inspire and support those around you.

Each envelope contains a range of items for each PLIX activity and bonus play activities. We will explore different ways of playing with the items for about 3 weeks.

Yes! It’ll be helpful to have the usual range of craft materials like scissors, glue, and you. Otherwise we’d have to invent a range of very flat, very lightweight stationery items. We’ll let you know by email if there are specific things we’d like you to bring.

You’re welcome to drink, eat, and drop in anytime within the hour to play with us. Plus we also send you some tea!
